About Our Lights
At bikelights.ie we supply battery free bicycle lights which are powered by you cycling your bicycle & no batteries are required!
How do the lights work?Unlike dynamo generators which need to touch the bicycle wheel to generate power, Reelight bicycle lights are powered by attaching magnets to your wheel spokes. As you cycle, the magnet on the spokes passes by the light magnet and that in turn generates power for the light and the light starts to flash.The generation of the power for the light is frictionless as the magnets do not touch each other as the wheel turns. You do not have the drag issues associated with dynamo powered lights which also have a tendency to slip in wet conditions. Many of our light models also keep flashing for up to two minutes after you stop cycling e.g. stopping at traffic junctions.
Are they easy to fit?The lights are easy to fit, you just need to fit the magnets to the wheels of your bicycle and attach the light to your bicycle. Some ** tools such as a screwdriver, a cutting tool such as a scissors and a bit of your time and you will be up and running with your battery bicycle lights!
Who makes the lights?The lights are made by the Danish company Reelight who were Eurobike Gold Award winners with their Reelight products.
Safety All DayThey bicycle lights turn on anytime you cycle day or night. By cycling with lights in the day, you help to keep yourself seen. According to a report, Traffic Researchers from Aalborg University have conducted a large study in which 2,000 cyclists rode with magnetic lights from Reelight for one year. The cyclists were exposed to 32 percent fewer accidents than a comparable group with ordinary battery lights which only shone in the dark. 85 percent felt "much more" or "more" secure with Reelight on the bike.
